About ISCI

The ISCI(International Student Conference at Ibaraki) has been established and organized as the symposium by students for students. This conference started in 2005 and reaches its 16th times. The purpose is upbringing of the person who can play an active part in the global community. Many university students from domestic and overseas participate every year. Furthermore, there are many high school student participants in Ibaraki prefecture,and an active argument and international exchange are performed.

ISCI from ISCIU

For the past years, we have held this conference more than 10 times, which have been known as International Student Conference in Ibaraki University, i.e. ISCIU. Since 2017, aiming at widely encouraging not only Ibaraki University students but also students from other universities and even from high-schools in Ibaraki prefecture to join in a session, the ISCIU renamed International Student Conference in Ibaraki, i.e. ISCI, made a new start.

Theme

Stand by you ~with online~

“Stand by you ~with online~” is set up to the theme of the 16th ISCI. Last year, we have consulted and held this conference with the committee of Ibaraki University students,staff from Ibaraki Prefecture, Mito city, and Ibaraki International Association, as well as from Mito City International Association, on-campus students, friends from campus club activities and students from high school. The number of students participating in the committee is increasing year after year.

To prevent the spread of the COVID-19, the conference will be held online this year. Under this circumstance, no matter where you are or who you are, we hope we can interact with each other online. Moreover, we are planning to call for participation from Ibaraki University’s overseas partner University as well.

We provide a variety of topics in order to many students can attempt to give a presentation irrespective of their major. A newly implemented topic "Ibaraki"and“Student Life” will be suitable for high-school students who are keen to give a presentation in English although they aren’t engaged in a research work, allowing them to present what they have thought about their life and learned at school/after-school activities. Presenters can choose one topic from the above topics and give a presentation based on it.

Chairman's Greeting

The 16th Ibaraki International Student Conference will be held this year. The purpose is to upbring a person who can play an active part in the global community and so far, many students from Japan and overseas have participated in this conference. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to hold ISCI online for one day. The COVID-19 pandemic has stopped us from going over the borders and then “staying home” becomes a natural act for us. There are people who are feeling uncomfortable and stressed with this. On the other hand, people start to realize what we can do at home and with the help of internet connection, we can do anything. Hence, we decided the theme : Stand by you ~with online~ because we hope to overcome this situation together by taking the advantage of online. I’m looking forward to connecting with a lot of people.
