The ISCI(International Student Conference at Ibaraki) has been established and organized as the symposium by students for students. This conference started in 2005. The holdings is the 15th. The purpose is upbringing of the person who can play an active part in the global community. Many university students participate every year from the inside and outside the country. Furthermore, there are many participants of the high school student in Ibaraki prefecture, too. An active argument and international exchange are performed.
For the past years, we have held student-student meetings a few dozen times, which have been known as International Student Conference at Ibaraki University, i.e. ISCIU. 2 years ago, aiming at widely encouraging not only Ibaraki University students but also students from other universities and even from high-schools in Ibaraki prefecture to join in a session, the ISCIU made a new start, renamed International Student Conference in Ibaraki, i.e. ISCI.
“Unity ~Cross cultural understanding and cooperation~” is set up to the theme of the 15th ISCI. Handling many issues, we, the committee of Ibaraki University students, have consulted staff from Ibaraki Prefecture, Mito city, and Ibaraki International Association, as well as from Mito City International Association. We also have worked together with on-campus students, friends from campus club activities and students from Tokiwa University. 2 years ago, such significant discussions among the related groups lead us to make a one-day excursion to Mito city for the first time since the start of the session. The number of students participating in the committee is increasing year after year.
We hope ISCI will be a good place where all participants can have international interactions and understand each other's cultural background, and feel the sense of unity with the importance of cooperating with each other.
We provide a variety of topics in order many students to attempt to give a presentation irrespective of their major. A newly implemented topic "Ibaraki"and“Student Life” will be suitable for high-school students who are keen to make a presentation in English although they aren’t engaged in a research work, allowing them to present what they have thought about their living town and learned at school/after-school activities.
This year, the International Student Conference In Ibaraki (ISCI) marks its 15th anniversary. ISCI was established in 2005, aiming at cultivating internatinalized human resources capable of understanding with a good insight the modern society which is becoming globalized rapidly.
Following the purpose, ISCI has played important roles as a place which provides many students with opportunities of being exposed to priceless international experiences.
We set the theme of ISCI15 as “Unity ~Cross cultural understanding and cooperation~” with a view that it is greatly significant for us to have interactions with people with a different cultural background and understand each other, feeling the importance of cooperating and the sense of uniy among us.
I’m profoundly expecting ISCI to be a great opportunity for you to enhance your academic curiosity and international cultured minds.。
